Why are we doing this, and how does it work?
Outsell has the industry’s only and largest community of CEOs from data, analytics, information, and publishing businesses who subscribe to our services and in turn have direct access to each other. Outsell’s Leadership Council has served hundreds of executives, thousands if you count their teams. Members outperform industry growth norms, and the exits we’ve had from this community represent some of the biggest and most well-known deals we’ve seen in the industry. In a who’s who of M&A deals, you can safely know a ton of them were Outsell Leadership Council members — representing our true north of supporting CEOs looking to grow revenue, mitigate risk, and execute better.
As OLC has evolved, two things are quite clear, established companies benefit from emerging ones and emerging companies benefit from established ones. Our industry is built off the fabric of deals because most of our innovation comes through acquisition. It’s how we grow. It’s how we do our R&D, as I’ve written in past posts. So, what better way to create alchemy than to formally bring younger companies and more mature ones together? Win-win. We launched this idea at last year’s Emerging Company Growth Tank during Outsell’s 10th anniversary Signature Event, and this year we’ve formalized it.
What have we done?
1) We did a call for nominations based on four clear criteria and put the call out to our analysts, OLC chairs, OLC members, and the industry at large.
2) We are winnowing the Outsell 250 down to 30 to Watch, which has always been published in our Annual Industry Outlook report (download your complimentary copy of last year’s Outlook here).
3) Outsell’s analysts will score against three criteria, which will be weighted based on importance.
4) Outsell chairs will finalize the top 30 for Outsell’s 30 to Watch.
5) The top 10 will be invited to participate in Outsell’s Emerging Company Growth Tank at this year’s Outsell Signature Event.
6) Last, but not least, two winners will be named. One chosen by the audience and one by a panel of judges.
All will be invited to join Outsell’s Leadership Council at our emerging company investment level. They will also have access to the alchemy that is the core benefit of Outsell’s Leadership Council — growing revenue, better performance, the ability to get deals done, learning something new, and solving problems via a network of 150 members and an Outsell research and analysis wrapper that is the best in industry.
